Telefonica - Vendor Profile - Spain

This Telefonica Spain Vendor Profile highlights how Telefónica España can convert fibre leadership and B2B digital expansion into stronger margins and sustainable free cash flow.

Spain is the operational anchor of Telefónica’s Transform & Grow strategy. The Spanish business returned to simultaneous growth in revenue, adjusted EBITDA and adjusted operating cash flow after leases in 2025, while Q1 2026 showed further momentum in churn, mobile contract growth and convergent ARPU. The January 2026 tariff increase appears to have been absorbed with limited customer loss, supporting the view that Telefónica has rebuilt some pricing power in its home market.

This report also highlights the group’s growth drivers: public-sector AI, cloud security, mission-critical 5G, digital identity, post-quantum cybersecurity and sovereign edge-cloud initiatives, which will all strengthen Telefónica’s positioning with Spanish enterprises and government customers.

These developments are strategically relevant, but not as automatic proof of value creation. Telefónica Tech still needs clearer evidence on margin quality, recurring revenue and cash conversion. Also, the Telefónica Spain profile is essential reading for understanding whether ERE savings, fibre leadership, B2B digital services and infrastructure resilience can translate into durable cash-flow improvement in Telefónica’s most important market.

The conclusion is cautiously positive. Telefónica España has stronger operational momentum than a year ago, but the recovery case will depend on execution.
