Networking Leader Repositions for the AI Era
Cisco is entering a new growth phase as AI infrastructure, network modernization, cybersecurity, and observability reshape enterprise technology investment. This Vendor Profile examines how the company is combining its networking leadership with Splunk, security platforms, silicon, optics, collaboration, and AI-enabled operations.
Strategy and market positioning
Cisco’s strategy now centers on three outcomes: AI-ready data centers, future-proof workplaces, and digital resilience. Its portfolio spans networking, compute, security, observability, collaboration, edge infrastructure, and lifecycle services, supported by more than 37,000 partners worldwide.
This report assesses Cisco’s ability to integrate these technologies into a coherent platform. Particular attention is given to the convergence of networking and security, Cisco Cloud Control, AgenticOps, AI Defense, Unified Edge, and the expanded partnership with NVIDIA.
Financial recovery and AI momentum
Cisco generated $56.7 billion in revenues in fiscal 2025, up 5%. Software revenues grew by 21%, subscription revenues increased by 15%, and recurring revenues now account for more than half of total revenues.
The report also evaluates the company’s growing exposure to hyperscaler AI infrastructure demand, including Silicon One systems, Acacia optics, Nexus switching, and high-performance routing.
Splunk, security, and execution risks
Splunk has strengthened Cisco’s position in security analytics, observability, machine data, and digital resilience. However, product integration, cloud migration, cross-selling, licensing simplification, and unified management remain important execution challenges.
The report includes PAC’s opinion, strategy analysis, SWOT assessment, major accounts, customer projects, acquisitions, financial performance, growth drivers, obstacles, and organizational structure. It provides decision-makers with a structured view of Cisco’s competitive position, strategic direction, and ability to become a leading infrastructure and security platform for AI-driven environments.
