Figure of the day: Spending in self-service BI software - CxO Investment Survey - worldwide

For the CxO Investment Survey we asked the participants in which areas their organizations plan to investments in big data & analytics technologies within the next 2 years.

Self-service BI software (cited by 33% of respondents) and data visualization (31% of respondents) mainly address business users, helping them to perform some tasks themselves instead of passing them on to the IT department. These tools may be interesting for companies that are characterized by complex organizational structures and long decision-making paths.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that investments in both areas are mostly driven by large companies (35% and 33%, respectively). This difference between large and small companies was greater in the past, but it would appear that more and more smaller companies are appreciating the value of transparent and data-driven business decisions.
