Expert View: Digitization, electromobility, Catena-X, and Foxconn are changing the European automotive industry

The tectonic shifts that are currently underway as a result of the joint forces of electromobility, digitization, and Catena-X are becoming apparent. The power structure in the industry has been shifting. Digitization is not only making the system more networked, agile, and intelligent, it is also making it more open. Barriers to entry for new car manufacturers are being dismantled and tier 1 suppliers are becoming more powerful. That means OEMs will not be able to maintain their dominant market position, and tier 1 suppliers will become partners on a level playing field.
