Wipro expands London footprint with a new Innovation Centre
This week, Wipro announced plans to bolster its delivery footprint in the UK with a new Innovation Centre in London. The investment, which will cost £16m over four years, will accompany the firm's existing assets in the city - including an existing Cloud Studio in London and a Cyber Defence Centre in nearby Reading. Wipro advises the centre will act as the firm's flagship centre in the UK and will provide advanced digital, cyber security, and cloud expertise to clients.
Wipro already has a strong position in the UK, with over 4000 employees in the region dotted across ten offices. A talent pool bolstered even further through recent acquisitions, particularly Capco, which will see thousands of skilled professionals join the firm, many based out of the UK.
Following progress on an important trade deal between the UK and India, this month has seen a flurry of investment announcements. For many of the leading IT Services firms, including Wipro, the UK presents significant opportunities, particularly as enterprises in the region plan investments that will reshape their business in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Building out local talent is critical to addressing an almost insatiable demand for business-critical digital capabilities, such as cloud and cyber security - with many enterprises citing challenges addressing internal talent needs. Through its ongoing investment in the region and a clear commitment to developing its position in Europe under the leadership of Thierry Delaporte, Wipro is primed to bring a compelling offering to the market.
