Sopra Steria - Vendor Profile - Germany

Sopra Steria Germany has its roots in the acquisition of Mummert Consulting and its software subsidiary, Mummert ISS, by Steria in 2005. These origins are still evident, as consulting services play a more important role in Germany than in Sopra Steria’s worldwide business. In 2019, the company acquired it-economics and launched its consulting brand, Sopra Steria Next, in Germany.

Some insights from this profile:

  • In October 2025, Sopra Steria Germany announced a repositioning as a “strategic architect for Europe’s digital sovereignty,” aligning its portfolio, organizational setup, and technology focus with evolving regulatory and geopolitical demands.
  • Sopra Steria’s strong European footprint enhances its standing among large national and supranational public authorities, positioning it as a trusted partner for digital sovereignty–related initiatives.
  • SFT continued to provide IT services to the Sparda banks and support them with migrating to Atruvia (which has a large captive business with German cooperative banks that use its agree21 core banking solution) until 2026. However, SFT primarily operates as a managed services provider for SME banks and insurers and will need to consider its future beyond 2026.
