Figure of the day: SITS spending in the Austrian transport sector

According to PAC, total SITS spending by the Austrian transport sector decreased by 8.3% in 2020 and is expected to increase by 4.0% in 2021 and by 6.2% in 2022.

In terms of segments, our analyses have shown that BPO, particularly booking and ticketing services, suffered most in the transport sector, followed by project services, both application and infrastructure-related. The financial losses sustained by some transport companies were tremendous, which required a reassessment of the business and resulted in a renewed focus on cost-cutting strategies, to the benefit of services such as outsourcing and cloud migration.
