There are many good reasons why the cloud is eating the IT world, but for equally good reasons, it will not eat the operations-related IT core of the OT world. Dealing with IT-related peaks is not a key challenge for manufacturing operations, cloud-related latency issues will not go away, and automated software updates can cause disruption and failure in manufacturing operations.
