Expert View: Tackling the wild wild west with a new sheriff in town – the leaked EU Data Act

The EU Data Act might lead to a shift in power on EU markets as the EU Commission aims to oblige manufacturers as well as hyperscalers to share data generated from connected devices. A particular focus lies on information generated by industrial plants, cars, voice assistants, and smart watches. The regulation can be seen first as a data protection safeguard against big tech companies and, second, as a way to democratize data.
