Expert View: Smart Cities 3.0: the Post-pandemic Era

The disruption of the last two years has forced a sea change in approaches to the concepts of smart government and smart cities. Citizens have dramatically upped their use of digital channels to consume state and local government services, encouraging public sector organizations to step up their digital agenda. The focus has shifted to the implementation of digital services that deliver short-term gains and fulfil current needs, rather than futuristic lighthouse projects. Key focus areas for investment include digital identity management, cloud workplaces, and sovereign cloud infrastructures.
