The term “5G campus network” refers to a geographically limited, local mobile network adapted to special requirements such as industrial communications. Thanks to 5G technology and the use of dedicated frequencies, it meets the highest quality-of-service requirements in terms of latency, reliability, and availability of communication networks. This makes 5G campus networks attractive for applications in various manufacturing sectors. Therefore, they are considered as an important enabler of the factory of the future and are currently the subject of numerous discussions. The basic question is what kind of 5G campus network should be deployed and, related to this, who should operate it. Currently, most campus networks are private networks that are operated internally, i.e. by the IT department.
