Global financial institutions are all too often still faced with severe operational bottlenecks driven by the exponential computational complexity of modern portfolio optimisation, counterparty credit risk assessment, and regulatory compliance calculations. Traditional high-performance computing clusters that rely on brute-force Monte Carlo simulations struggle to process high-dimensional financial datasets in real time at the scale required today. This computational friction forces risk committees to rely on oversimplified distribution models and to maintain inflated capital reserves to comply with strict regulations such as the Basel Fundamental Review of the Trading Book framework. Waiting for fault-tolerant cryogenic quantum computers represents an unnecessary strategic delay for tier-one banks, given the unproven hardware roadmaps and the immense costs of physical infrastructure. PAC asserts that enterprise leadership should, in the meantime, adopt quantum-inspired algorithmic technologies that operate on existing, established hardware platforms. Algorithmic innovations such as digital annealing, simulated bifurcation, and tensor networks enable banks to solve complex combinatorial optimisation challenges today without specialised sub-zero-refrigerated quantum hardware.
