Accenture and Capgemini confirm their leadership on the European IT Services market
PAC recently published its first vendors rankings at global and regional level for 2022.
Accenture was the fastest growing vendor in our Top 10 with an impressive +27%. Growth was particularly strong in Germany, the UK, France and Italy. Organic growth was strong (nearly 20%), reinforced by multiple acquisitions over the last 2 years, including both large companies like Umlaut in Germany, Linkbynet or AFD.Tech in France, Trivadis in Switzerland, ARZ in Austria, and smaller boutiques like Greenfish in Belgium, T.A. Cook or Wabion in Germany, Benext, Exton Consulting, Nell’Armonia and Openminded in France, Ethica Consulting and Openmind in Italy, Sentia and Zestgroup in the Netherlands, Cygni in Sweden, Carbon Intelligence, YSC Consulting, BCS Consulting, Xoomworks, REPL and Edenhouse in the UK.
Capgemini confirmed its second place with a remarkable +16%, nearly exclusively organic as European acquisitions were limited to smaller boutiques like Braincourt (Germany), Quantmetry (France), Quorsus (the UK) or Knowledge Expert (Switzerland). Growth was particularly strong (over 20%) in Germany and the UK.
Both companies also dominate the 6 largest European markets (and 7 of the 8 largest): Accenture leads in the UK, Germany (displacing T-Systems), Italy and Switzerland (displacing Swisscom) while Capgemini leads in France, the Netherlands and Sweden (displacing TietoEvry). Indra remains in the lead in Spain, TietoEvry in Finland and Norway, Atos in Austria, NRB in Belgium, NEC/ KMD in Denmark.
In its first year after the Kyndryl spin-off, IBM retained third place, with a strong +15%. While the hardware-related “infrastructure support” business grew by only 6%, the “consulting” business reported a remarkable +18%.
TCS achieved a strong +15%, balanced between the UK (still generating half or European revenue; TCS ranks second there) and Continental Europe, taking 4th place from Atos.
In the last year before the split in Atos/ Tech Foundation and Eviden, Atos remained in the top 5 with a slight +2% growth. Growth was stronger in the Eviden business (application services/ “digital” and cyber security) while the Tech Foundation (infrastructure services) business was flat.
The top 10 is completed by DXC (-4%; the only vendor in our Top 20 with decreasing revenue, still affected by the contraction of the UK business), Kyndryl (+2%), Deloitte (+19%, up one place), Sopra Steria (+9%; growing 12% in France, where Sopra Steria ranks; over 30% growth in the Nordics, Sopra Steria ranks second in Norway) and CGI (+12%; strong performance in France with ca. 15% as well as in Germany and the Netherlands with nearly 12%).
There was no new entrant in our top 10 in 2022. Infosys (+32%, up 3 places), NTT Data (+17%), Cognizant (+14%), Fujitsu (-2%) and Worldline (+14%) complete the Top 15, followed by Wipro (+22%), HCL (+19%), T-Systems (+1%), Orange (+11%; including both Orange Business Services and Orange Cyberdefense) and Adecco (+33% following the take over of AKKA). Adecco was the sole new entrant, winning 7 places and pushing TietoEvry out of the Top 20.
