Infinity Works acquisition reinforces Accenture's UK Cloud and Engineering capabilities

This week, Accenture announced the acquisition of UK-Based cloud and digital transformation consultancy Infinity Works – adding 440 professionals to Accenture’s talent pool. Including experienced software and data engineers and cloud architects and specialists. Headquartered in Leeds, the firm has offices across the UK, including Manchester, Edinburgh and London.

Founded in 2014, Infinity Works has developed strong relationships with the major cloud giants, including Advanced Consulting Partner status with AWS. And through a multitude of projects, the firm has exposure to various industries, including retail and financial services, with clients including Starling Bank, Photobox, Moonpig, and Manchester Airports Group.

The move follows the acquisition of Edenhouse, another UK-Based consultancy specialising in SAP sale, implementation, support, and hosting. And signals an ongoing commitment from Accenture to invest in onshore and nearshore capabilities in Europe and the UK in specific target markets such as cloud and engineering. As part of its global investment strategy in cloud services, Accenture announced the creation of Accenture Cloud First, which pools over 70,000 cloud professionals alongside $3bn in funds to support the rapid growth of the firm’s cloud business.

Over the next 24 months, we can expect enterprises to draw more focus on their cloud migration and management strategies. A fact confirmed in the recently published PAC CxO survey, which revealed a step-change in the way enterprises plan to consume cloud services in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. With many enterprises looking for partners who can help them navigate different solutions and approaches to get the most out of their infrastructure modernisation programmes. An essential aspect of this is assisting enterprises to modernise their core applications. Many in the UK plan to streamline their estate while using the cloud as the foundation for modernisation activities. A line of work well suited to Infinity Works’ collection of developers and cloud specialists – who can help clients glean more value from technology by combining expertise in both application development and cloud architecture, alongside Accenture’s global talent pool.

Accenture, with its strong track record of acquiring specific capabilities to supplement high-growth business lines, is set to meet some of this growing market demand in the region.
