Infrastructure Security – Dependencies, Connections, and Provider Landscape – InBrief Analysis

Infrastructure security is fundamental to modern cybersecurity, safeguarding networks, cloud platforms, endpoints, and critical infrastructure from increasingly advanced threats. Organizations face growing risks from ransomware, supply chain attacks, and nation-state activities, while hybrid and multi-cloud environments, mobility, and ubiquitous connection modes broaden the attack surface. To meet these challenges, enterprises adopt zero trust, extended detection and response (XDR), and AI-powered automation.

Strong infrastructure security must be integrated with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), data and application security, and identity and access management (IAM). These disciplines together lay the foundations for regulatory compliance, robust data protection, controlled access to meet the need for risk reduction, deeper auditability, and faster post-crisis recovery.

Data segregation and acceptable localization under the GDPR framework, controlled technological dependence on vendors, support for local and regional innovation, and cybersecurity have recently become priorities on the CISO agenda, adding a new layer of non-technical considerations to the procurement process.

The market also targets SMBs, which have specific needs that cannot be met by fragmented security solutions and require advanced bundled technology solutions. SMBs are the next growth segment for the cybersecurity industry, with a focus on strong integration and simplification of services in a fee-based model.

The provider landscape is consolidating into three main groups: solution providers like Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, and WithSecure; service providers such as IBM, Orange Cyberdefense, and Atos; and platform or cloud providers like Microsoft, AWS, and OVHcloud. European vendors are gaining momentum with offerings focused on compliance and sovereignty. The future of infrastructure security depends on platform integration, managed services, and partnerships centered on resilience.
