If carbon data, supplier information, product data, financial metrics, and compliance requirements are not meaningfully connected, sustainability remains fragmented across parallel data worlds. This Expert View introduces the concept of Sustainability Data Products as a way to make ESG data usable, reusable, and decision-ready. A Sustainability Data Product is not simply a dataset, dashboard, or reporting output. It combines data sources, calculation logic, quality rules, ownership, business context, and usage scenarios into a structured data asset that can support concrete enterprise decisions. The key transition is from fragmented ESG reporting to scalable sustainability steering. Companies need to move from manually collected, project-specific ESG data toward governed, reusable, and interoperable data products that serve finance, procurement, product development, operations, compliance, customer communication, AI applications, and Digital Product Passport readiness.
